Integral Coach Factory of Chennai became the world’s largest rail coach manufacturer-

1) Integral Coach Factory (ICF), the rail coach manufacturing factory at Chennai, which became famous for manufacturing Train 18, has become the single largest rail coach manufacturer in the world surpassing top Chinese manufacturers.2) The manufacturing facility of Indian Railways in Chennai manufactured 2,919 coaches from April 2018 to February 2019 against 2,600 coaches manufactured by top Chinese manufacturers.


India’s deepest shaft cave discovered in Meghalaya-

1) India's deepest shaft cave Krem Um Ladaw has been discovered in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district during the annual 'Caving in the Abode of the Clouds Expedition'.
2) The cave has a 105 m deep shaft entrance passage, Meghalaya Adventurers' Association General Secretary Brian Kharpran Daly said.


INTERNATIONAL NEWS

India slipped 7 spots, ranked 140th in Happiness Report 2019-

1) India loses 7 spots in global list of happiest nations, ranks 140th. Finland has been ranked as the happiest country in the world for the second year in succession.
2) The report was released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations on March 20 which has was declared as World Happiness Day by the UN General Assembly in 2012.

First Ever High-Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation held in Jakarta, Indonesia-

1) The Government of Indonesia hosted the first ever High-Level Dialogue on Indo-Pacific Cooperation (HLD-IPC) in its capital city Jakarta. It was inaugurated by Indonesia’s Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
2) The main objective behind this meet was to urge all participating governments to talk openly about their plans for increasing cooperation and for building trust in the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean region.
3) The theme of the HLD was “Towards a Peaceful, Prosperous, and Inclusive Region”. 

SPORTS

Abu-Dhabi signed to host T10 League for next five years-

1) Abu Dhabi Cricket (ADC), in partnership with Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), has signed a five-year agreement with the organizers of the T10 Cricket League.
2) The Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi will be the new home of T10 cricket for the next five years, starting with the 2019 season.


Special Olympic World Games 2019 to be held in Abu-Dhabi-

1) Abu Dhabi will host the World Games from March 8 to 22, 2019. The UAE’s capital will stage the most unified Special Olympics World Games in the history of the Special Olympics.
2) Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 is the largest sports and humanitarian event, welcoming 7,000 athletes from more than 170 nations to participate in 24 officially-sanctioned Olympic-style sports from 14-21 March 2019.

India-Pakistan War Hero, Captain M.N Samant died aged 89 years-

1) Captain Mohan Narayan Rao Samant of the Indian Navy, a 1971 India-Pakistan war hero, who was honoured by Bangladesh as a ‘Friend of Liberation War’, has passed away at the age of 89.
2) The Maha Vir Chakra awardee was instrumental in India waging a covert maritime war against shipping in the then East Pakistan.

IMPORTANT DAYS

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination observed on 21 March-

1) The United Nations’ (UN) International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed with a series of events and activities worldwide on March 21 each year.
2) The day aims to remind people of racial discrimination’s negative consequences. It also encourages people to remember their obligation and determination to combat racial discrimination.


International Day of Forests observed on 21 March –

1) Every year 21st March is being observed as International Day of Forests to raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests and of trees outside forests.
2) The International Day of Forests was established on the 21st day of March, by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on November 28, 2012.
3) The theme of International forests Day 2019 is Forests and Education.
