Fitch cuts India’s GDP Growth Forecast for FY20 to 6.8% -

1) Fitch Ratings Friday cut India's economic growth forecast for the next financial year starting April 1, to 6.8 per cent from its previous estimate of 7 per cent, on weaker than expected momentum in the economy.2) The rating agency has also cut growth forecasts for FY20 and FY21 to 7 per cent from 7.3 per cent and 7.1 per cent from 7.3 per cent, respectively.


Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), launched its app ‘Shiksha Vani’ –

1) The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched the podcast application - ''CBSE Shiksha Vani.''2) The intention behind the launching of CBSE podcast platform (CBSE Shiksha Vani) is the easy availability of up-to-date information regarding educational tools and initiatives can improve outcomes. The app will help in the Board's zero-error policy for evaluation, standard directions are required to be circulated to the evaluation centres spread across the country. 

Piyush Goyal and Dr. Harshvardhan among World’s 100 Most Influential people as per Climate Policy 2019-

1) Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Dr Harsh Vardhan are among the seven Indians who have been named in the 'World's 100 Most Influential People in Climate Policy for 2019' for taking steps in order to combat climate change.
2) Union minister of Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal led the fast track electrification of nearly 18,000 unelectrified villages and played important role in the world's largest LED bulb distribution programme.

3) Union minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Harsh Vardhan has focused on motivating scientists to develop new technologies that address social and environmental problems.

INTERNATIONAL NEWS

Kazakhstan renames its capital Astana to Nursultan-

1) Kazakhstan has chosen to rename its capital city in tribute to former leader Nursultan Nazarbayev who announced his shock resignation after three decades at the helm.
2) The city of Astana, meaning "capital" in Kazakh, has now become Nursultan.

India and Peru hold 4th Round of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Talks in Lima-

1) “India and Peru are negotiating a trade agreement covering goods, services and investment. The fourth round of negotiations was held from March 11-15 in Lima, Peru. This FTA is aimed at boosting the economies and commerce between the countries.
2) “The main chapters of the trade agreement include market access for goods, trade in services, movement of professionals, investments, dispute settlement, technical barriers to trade, trade remedies, rules of origin of goods, customs procedures and trade facilitation”.

SPORTS

Chennai city FC crowned as the I-League Champion-

1) Chennai City became champions of the I-League after they defeated Minerva Punjab 3-1 in their final I-League encounter in Coimbatore.
2) Gaurav Bora was the hero for the Tamil Nadu side as he scored twice for CCFC.


Special Olympic Games 2019 Concluded- 368 Medals bagged by India-

1) India created history by clinching 368 medals, including 85 gold, at the Special Olympics World Summer Games which was held at Abu Dhabi, UAE from March 14 to 21.
2) Indian powerlifters bagged the maximum number of medals – 20 gold, 33 silver and 43 bronze. Roller skating earned India 49 medals – 13 gold, 20 silver and 16 bronze. In cycling, the Indians won 11 gold, 14 silver and 20 bronze to total 45 medals, while the country’s track and field athletes returned with 39 medals – 5 gold, 24 silver and 10 bronze.
3) It was also the first time India participated in Judo and Futsal - clinching 3 gold, 1 silver and seven silver medals respectively.

Physicist Marcelo Gleiser wins Templeton Prize 2019-

1) Brazilian physicist and astronomer Marcelo Gleiser has been awarded the 2019 Templeton Prize, worth $1.4 million, for his work blending science and spirituality.
2) Gleiser, 60, is the first Latin American to win the award which honors “a living person who has made an exceptional contribution to affirming life’s spiritual dimension,”.

World Water Day observed on 22 March-

1) World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. The first World Water Day was commemorated in 1993.
2) The theme for World Water Day 2019 is ‘Leaving no one behind,’ which is the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: as sustainable development progresses, everyone must benefit.
